Emma Reed

Nursery Coordinator

Born and raised in Richmond, Emma earned her degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Delaware. After graduating in May 2025, she interned with East Carolina University’s Coastal Hazards, Equity, Economic Prosperity, and Resilience Hub. In this role, she contributed to research on disaster resilience and recovery strategies, with a particular focus on the mental health challenges experienced by service providers in the aftermath of disasters. Through this work, she strengthened not only her commitment to environmental stewardship, but also her dedication to meaningful, community-centered service.

While her path after college has unfolded a little differently than she had imagined, it led her to discover a new passion that kept serving and supporting her community at the heart of her work. While working part-time as a salon receptionist, Emma’s natural ability to connect with people opened the door to babysitting and nannying opportunities throughout the Richmond community. Over the past year, she has had the privilege of caring for children from families at St. James Episcopal Church and beyond, finding great joy in supporting their growth, curiosity, and development.

Now, as the Nursery Coordinator at St. James, Emma is excited to combine her passion for nurturing young children with her commitment to building strong, caring communities. She looks forward to creating a welcoming and enriching environment for the church’s youngest members and their families.
