Do
Living the Word
“Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only.”
This foundational scripture from James 1:22 is more than carved into our building—it is the active calling that shapes our entire community life and propels us into the world. At St. James’s, we don't just talk about faith—we put it into action.
Local and Global Missions
For decades, St. James's has maintained one of the most active mission programs in Richmond, mobilizing hundreds of people to serve.
While we look forward to international travel again, our current mission focus is powerfully anchored right here in Virginia. This commitment allows us to deepen our impact, serving those in need across our own state.
Our local mission trips are designed for everyone—no special skills are required, just a willing heart and hands ready to help. And we offer a limited number of scholarships to help offset the cost for participants who feel called to join a trip.
Powerful Outreach
We believe in generous, focused support. Our outreach ministry partners with organizations on the front lines of community transformation, providing essential financial resources and hands-on volunteer support to:
CARITAS
CARITAS creates a safe space to heal and time to rebuild. They are an active community of caring for people experiencing homelessness and/or addiction. Their vision is to cultivate a vibrant community where hope lives and everyone has an opportunity to renew their lives.
Peter Paul
Peter Paul offers a full range of programs and services to fulfill Peter Paul’s mission: to support the neighbors of the East End and educate its students, equipping them to serve as positive contributors to their family, community and society.
REAL LIFE
REAL LIFE serves individuals who have been impacted by incarceration, homelessness, or substance use disorder by giving them an opportunity to overcome their personal and community barriers that hinder their pathway to thriving.
Become a Doer
