Since its establishment in 1957, the St. James’s Endowment Fund, Inc. has been the bedrock for the long-term vitality of our church. As a tax-exempt corporation, the Fund’s mission is simple: to invest and grow permanent funds that support and advance the good works of St. James's Church for generations to come.

Through sound financial stewardship and the generosity of our members, the Fund has grown exponentially.

Financial Strength

The Fund has grown from an initial value of approximately $140,000 to over $11 million today.

Total Investment

We have expended over $6 million since inception to maintain and expand church facilities, provide essential parking, and support our critical outreach ministries.

How the Endowment Works

The Endowment is governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees—the Rector and nine lay trustees, all of whom have previously served on the Vestry.

Each year, the Trustees distribute a vital grant to the Vestry for the church's unrestricted needs. This grant is equal to 4% of the three-year rolling average value of the unrestricted fund (net of fees).

  • Scott-Taliaferro Fund

    Provides scholarships for current St. James's members.

Example: To generate a perpetual $2,500 annual gift, an endowed gift of just over $55,000 would be required (based on the current 4.5% spending rate).
