Diahann Whittington
Executive Director of St. James’s Children Center
Diahann Whittington began her journey at St. James’s Children’s Center as a pre-kindergarten teacher in 2014 and was named Executive Director in January 2020. With a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and an Early Childhood Teaching Certificate, she is a passionate advocate for providing high-quality early childhood education to all children, regardless of their background.
Diahann is committed to preparing young hearts and minds for a lifetime of learning in a loving and inclusive environment. She is an active participant in early childhood learning communities, including the Central Virginia Literacy Collaborative. She is also honored to support the teachers and staff who actively provide a high-quality, supportive, and nurturing environment for all young learners.
Diahann shares her leadership abilities through her board service at ReWork, a Richmond nonprofit with a mission to place and retain workers in living-wage jobs. She is also a member of the African American Nonprofit Leaders (AANL). Diahann has also completed the Community Foundation’s Emerging Nonprofit Leadership Program, a testament to her dedication and leadership in the nonprofit sector.
